Westfield San Francisco Centre in San Francisco, CA
This high-end mall and shopping center is one of the largest such retail stores in the country, with particularly impressive, modern architecture that gives the impression of being in a tower. The helical escalator that traverses a central column and bold white, minimalist expanses characterize the recently redeveloped and almost entirely remodeled space, now owned and officially named by the Westfield Company of Australia.
Many of the stores carry upscale fashion, some of it not found elsewhere. A nine-screen theater is found on the entire 6th floor. The original Nordstrom's "anchor store" has remained since the San Francisco Centre opened. Also included are a vast array of smaller stores — many of which cater to the tastes of young shoppers with plenty of expendable income.
There is plenty of lodging, at all price levels, nearby. Visitors may use pubic access. Both BART and MUNI have stops at the Powell Street. The San Francisco Centre is open daily, from mid-morning, until late in the evening. Expect large crowds at most hours and plenty of entertaining kiosk vendors.
