Home of the San Francisco 49'ers, Monster Park, formerly known as Candlestick Park was once the home of the major league baseball team, the San Francisco Giants. The Giants' first game was in 1961. Monster Park seats about 64,400 people. Built in 1957, Candlestick Park stadium was named after its location; the New York Giants moved to San Francisco in 1961.
Over the years the stadium, then seating only 45,000 seats, started to fall into disrepair; the city of San Francisco over $16 million renovating Candlestick Park, and in 1971 moved in and the San Francisco Giants moved out closer to the bay. The park was renamed Monster Park.
During the significant changes took place during reconstruction; the seats along the right field were made so they could be retracted, so that the baseball field could be converted into a football field, and the grass was replaced by Astroturf. Then in 1995 the Astroturf was again changed back to grass.
Besides baseball and football, Monster Park is also a venue for music concerts. The Beatles preformed here in 1965. Besides the usual concessions that are at every ball park, there is also a stand that sells sour dough bread bowls and chowder, which is convenient, you eat the bowl and all. There is no mess. Another one of the famous treats are their garlic fries.

Both the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles have seen better times, and luckily this season at least one of these teams looks to move in the right direction.

As the season draws to an end the 49ers and Packers may be playing for pride more than playoff position, though that's no reason to miss a professional game of football while in the area.
The new-look Cardinals will see if their young team can go for an entire season as they take on the San Francisco 49ers in a game that, while decidedly one sided, should be a terrific showcase of exactly what the Cardinals are capable of.
